From Humble Beginnings...
Rob and Lin first bought their 5 acre property in 2010. What a mess! Piles of rubbish in the back paddock including nappies, clothing and lots of unidentifiable plastic!... Yuck! Nicotine yellow interior house walls, a hole in the kitchen roof so the possums could access the pantry overnight and hold a church service with the mice already there! Creepers everywhere, overgrown gardens and a green pool with a Gilligan's Island floating in the middle...What was that? Oh, a dead animal!!! Aggghhhh! A huge rotting tree hovered over the house. A shed contained a dead rat's nest in a deserted hay bale.
While much hard work and renovating began and continued, animals were purchased, mainly for their lawn mowing, mouse catching and egg laying capabilities. The grass was mown, but we found out that what goes in, must come out!... Manure collecting is now a regular past time for staff.
After the farm was made safe and respectable, a party was held for a 4 year old child. A suggestion was made about how other visitors might enjoy farm activities, with many people stuck in the suburbs and the idea for Feed My Sheep was born.
Shearing, farrier, dentist, vet and feed all cost a bit.
